Funding Rules

The maecenia foundation funds innovative projects by women in all fields of science, the arts and culture. The submitted works should contribute to the development of science and art from a female perspective. Projects which incorporate both science and art, or which are interdisciplinary, are particularly welcome.

Moreover, maecenia funds projects dedicated to women's traditions and achievements, such as research, documentaries and other work which helps to highlight the contribution of women to science, art and culture.
maecenia will accept applications from individuals as well as legal entities from Germany and abroad, and while preference is given to female applicants, men are not exempt from application. maecenia also accepts applications for complimentary funding.

maecenia does not fund

• commercial projects
• projects without a clear time frame
• projects which have already been completed or published
• projects which serve individual self-discovery or self-help
• printing costs for works which serve the achievement of academic grades or qualifications
• maintenance grants for students

Applications should contain the following:

• an exposé, i.e. a short project description
• a schedule
• a financing plan
• biographical details

We regret that we are unable to return any additional material included in the application (such as catalogues, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, books, photographs, videos, etc.) unless a stamped addressed envelope is included.
