Profile Based in Frankfurt, the maecenia foundation is dedicated to the support of women who are active in pioneering projects from all fields of science, arts and culture. In particular, the foundation supports multi-disciplinary projects that tackle society from a woman's perspective, providing constructive criticism. In this way, maecenia aims at strengthening the position of women in science and arts in order to facilitate the development of a different kind of society. In addition to providing funding for specific projects, maecenia regards itself as an active foundation, i.e. it creates its own topics, organises events and founds projects. Moreover, maecenia places great importance on networking. It brings together people who share an interest in similar topics and concerns, thereby creating links between scientists, artists, institutions and other foundations. Since its foundation in 2000, maecenia has funded 58 projects to the tune of € 95,000. In addition, many projects received consultation and were given non-material support through networking. maecenia seeks
to encourage people to support women and always welcomes endowments
and donations. |
